Criss-Cross Cowl Knitting Pattern

I was looking for a design to make a Christmas present for my Dad, but I ran out of time to make something fancy, and he ended up with a rather plainer cowl than I intended.  But I still liked the idea, so I made the criss-cross cowl anyway – for me!

It’s a little more challenging to knit than the plaited set, as you need to cable on every right-side row – but if you like it as much as I do, you’ll agree it’s worth it!  Not an item to make in just a couple of hours, but the end result is a stylish, snug and comfy garment you’d be proud to show off anywhere.

You’ll need 5.5mm straight needles, a thick cable needle, and about 100g of chunky yarn, and you can add three decorative buttons or a knitted or crocheted motif to add for further decoration if you want – but it’s entirely your decision.
